Hello...my name is Mr. Salvador I. Lopez and I am one of the Junior English 5-6 teachers here at Cesar Chavez High School. If you have any questions at all about either my English class or Student Government, please do not hesitate to e-mail me: [email protected] (best way to contact me) or give me a call 602-764-4000.
Personal and Educational Background
I grew up in inner-city West Phoenix, near 43rd Ave. and McDowell Rd. I am a product of Mitchell Elementary, Isaac Middle School, and graduated from North High School in 2001 from the International Baccalaureate Magnet Program. At North High I was also involved in sports, including track, cross country, basketball, and soccer. I was also a member of Student Government as a Junior and Senior. After high school I went on to Arizona State University, where I joined Tau Psi Omega Multicultural Fraternity Inc., a community service based Fraternity with a focus on family, culture and education. I graduated from ASU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education – English. I most recently completed my Master's in Educational Technology from Grand Canyon University in December 2015. I was married October 5th, 2012 to my beautiful wife Veronica Lopez, who is an Occupational Therapist in the Peoria School District. We have two dogs named Yoda and Chewbacca.
At Cesar Chavez
I began my career at Cesar Chavez in 2006 and continue to work as a Champion. I began as an English 3-4 teacher for 3 years, then taught English 5-6 Inclusion for 7 years, ultimately ending up doing English 5-6 AND 1-2. Along with being an English teacher I am also the Student Government Advisor for the school, and the JV Girls Soccer coach.
